You will be in a unique position to start your career together with other trainees in Heidelberg Cement Northern Europe and will participate in a tailor made program. During twelve months you will get a unique insight to HeidelbergCement Northern Europe, from the mining of limestone through production of cement and concrete to construction of building elements. From day one you will be assigned a position with specific working tasks. Your day to day work will be combined with an application of theory through trainings. Ericsson is constantly evolving and challenging the status quo in software development. DURA R&D Operations is responsible for supporting that evolution, but without reliable measurements it is difficult to tell what is an improvement and what isn't. The purpose of this job is to propose key metrics for successful large scale software development at an early stage in the product lifecycle, and then to apply these metrics to a recently launched project as well as to a mature one.
For future Heterogeneous Networks an integrated high efficiency wide band transmitter solution is needed. A good candidate for that is a wide band Doherty in a MMIC process. Several techniques exist that meets the wide band requirements for the output network. But a phase shifter or a Wideband match that is possible to integrate on a GaAs/GaN MMIC is needed for the complete amplifier to work properly.
Today operators are owning and operating several Radio Access Networks (RATs), for example, GSM, WCDMA (3G), LTE (4G), and WiFi. In order to meet the increasing traffic load there is a need to deploy base stations capable of higher capacity. Lately, operators have started to deploy LTE as well as WiFi in order to enhance user throughput and delay. At the same time energy consumption is becoming an increasing concern for the operators and one way to reduce cost is to disable WiFi nodes during low load conditions and let LTE cells to serve existing traffic. The inter-working between LTE and WiFi is very important to have seamless coverage and excellent user experience, but also to enable energy saving features. In order to understand performance of such mixed LTE and WiFi networks, there is a need of developing a simulator capable of modeling both these RATs. The goal of this project is to develop a simulator capable of modeling time-dynamic aspects in a mixed LTE-WiFi network, for example, mobility and inter-working between LTE and WiFi nodes.
This thesis project, for 2 persons and approximately 20 weeks, deals with implementing a server application and an Android augmented reality application on a Smartphone. The server application will control the pre-caching of content in the client cache based on a set of metrics. The server application will also feature network coding algorithms to enhance content delivery. The Smartphone application will implement detection of geographic location and client caching.
In mobile networks it is vitally important to provide radio channels ensuring good quality voice or internet services. Failure to achieve this would result in dissatisfied end-customers, possibly leading to reduced revenues for the operator. Radio network tuning aims at optimizing various network parameters in order to improve user quality. Modern antenna design allows electrical (non-mechanical) adaptation of the antenna pattern, enabling flexible orientation of the main antenna lobe in the vertical (tilt) and horizontal (azimuth) plane, as well as the width of the antenna lobe. This provides a powerful toolset for the operator to improve the radio channel quality, increase the spectral efficiency in the network, and reduce the inter-cell interference.
